Sound familiar?
Your accountant is hard to reach and rarely proactive.
Most limited company directors end up chasing their accountant for a tax bill estimate they should have had months ago. Deadlines creep up, Companies House reminders arrive unremarked upon, and any question that falls outside an annual accounts job gets treated as an imposition. That is not how a decent working relationship with an accountant should feel.
- Tax bill arrives as a surprise because no one ran the numbers in advance
- Companies House deadlines managed by you, not your accountant
- Questions about payroll, VAT or director salary sit unanswered for days
What a well-run finance function looks like
Cloud accounting software means your numbers are current, not historical. Your tax position is calculated well ahead of any deadline, your filings are handled without chasing, and a chartered accountant is available when you have a question.
- Your Corporation Tax liability is projected months before the due date
- Companies House filings managed directly by an ACSP-registered firm
- Questions answered the day you ask them — by a person who knows your books
- Fixed monthly fee — no hourly billing, no year-end invoice surprises
What limited company clients say
From new incorporations to established SMEs switching from a previous firm, the pattern in client feedback is consistent: responsive, hands-on and commercially informed.
Been with OD Accountants for over a year now. Niall and the team are brilliant. They helped me set up a company and get everything I needed in place to run my business. I'm a tricky client due to my 'digital nomad' status, but their advice…
My other-half introduced me to Niall at OD Accountants and I have to say my finances are so much the better for it. Unlike my previous Accountants, Niall is far more hands-on, available for advice and able to care for me as an individual, rather than a faceless client. His fees are very reasonable and the money he has saved me more than covers them. If you need an Accountant who cares, Niall and OD Chartered Management Accountants are the way to go.
Everything a limited company needs, online
The full compliance obligation for a UK limited company, plus the management reporting and strategic support that most accountants treat as optional extras.
Statutory Accounts and Corporation Tax
Annual statutory accounts prepared and filed, with Corporation Tax calculated and submitted to HMRC. Your liability is not a figure you discover at the last minute — it is projected and tracked across the year so there are no unwelcome surprises when the bill arrives.
Included as standardCompanies House and Compliance Filings
OD Accountants is an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP), which means confirmation statements and Companies House submissions are handled directly by the firm under the statutory regime. Deadlines are tracked and met without you needing to set a reminder.
ACSP-registered firmManagement Reporting and Virtual FD Support
For directors who want more than compliance, monthly management accounts with KPI dashboards give you a clear view of how the business is performing — not just at year-end, but every month. Where useful, OD acts as an outsourced finance director, providing the kind of commercial input normally reserved for businesses large enough to hire one full-time.
Available on requestConsistently described the same way
Across sectors and company types, from start-ups to established SMEs, client feedback centres on the same few things: availability, commercial depth and fees that earn their cost.
Always Available, Competitive Prices, Years Of Service
“I've been there for years and Niall and his team go above and beyond the duties to provide accounting services but also general advices. They are always available if you need anything while charging very competitive prices. I could not recommend them enough.”
Welcoming, Supportive And Always Available
“As a new start up and having never dealt with an accountant, Niall at OD Accountants has been very welcoming and supportive. All our prior queries and issues have been resolved, and he is always available to meet the needs of our team.”
Always On The End Of The Phone
“Niall and his team are supportive, clear and directional accountants who have supported our small business staff up. They're always on the end of the phone to advise and assist and provide a top service for our accounting needs. Plus they're just nice people which helps too!!”
What makes the difference in practice
The list of services most online accountants offer is more or less the same. What varies is the quality of advice, the responsiveness and whether the firm actually understands how your business works.
Cloud-first means real-time numbers
The books are current because the workflow is built on modern accounting software and SaaS integrations, not periodic batch processing. That means your tax position, cash flow and KPIs are visible whenever you need them — not reconstructed at year-end. A traditional firm does the same compliance output; OD gets there with less lag and less manual effort on your side.
Chartered depth, not just compliance
Founder Niall O'Driscoll is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA, CGMA) with over ten years of freelance restructure and turnaround work, including listed UK and overseas companies. That background is what gets applied to a growing SME that wants more from its accountant than a once-a-year accounts filing.
Companies House filings handled directly
OD Accountants is an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP), which means Companies House submissions — confirmation statements and statutory filings — are handled under the registered ACSP regime. There is no third-party relay and no risk of a deadline slipping because someone forgot to forward a reminder.
Up and running in four steps
The transition to a new accountant is rarely as complicated as people expect. Most of the work involved in switching falls to us, not to you.
Book a discovery call
A 30-minute call with Niall or a senior member of the team. You explain how the business runs, what you are currently paying and what is not working. No obligation, no hard sell — you leave knowing exactly what would be included and at what fee.
Receive a fixed-fee proposal
A written proposal setting out the scope and the fixed monthly fee. No ambiguity about what is and is not included. If you have been with a previous accountant, we handle the professional clearance and the handover of books — including any catch-up work required to bring the records current.
Onboard onto the cloud platform
Your accounting data is migrated or set up on the cloud platform. Bank feeds connect, app integrations are configured, and any historical records are reconciled. The setup work is done by the team — your main task is approving access and answering a few questions about the business.
Back to running the business
From the first full month, your books are current, your deadlines are tracked and a chartered accountant is on the end of the phone when you need one. The compliance obligation is off your plate. The strategic side — management accounts, tax planning, director remuneration — is handled as part of an ongoing relationship, not treated as a separate billable event.
“The service from OD has been excellent, as has their advice. It's great to have access to a financial team who can guide us with such confidence and seamlessly integrate with our internal team. We always feel well-informed and confident about our financial processes and data. Highly recommend.”
Things people ask before getting in touch
Can you handle everything a limited company needs, not just the year-end accounts?
Yes. The full scope covers statutory accounts, Corporation Tax, payroll, auto-enrolment, VAT returns, Making Tax Digital compliance, Companies House confirmation statements and director self-assessment. For clients who want it, monthly management accounts and virtual FD support sit alongside the compliance work. The year-end accounts are the minimum, not the ceiling.
What does it cost, and is everything included in the monthly fee?
Fees are fixed and agreed in writing before any work begins, so there are no unexpected invoices at year-end. The fee reflects the scope agreed at the proposal stage — compliance only, or compliance plus management reporting, or the full virtual FD engagement. Clients in our Google reviews consistently describe fees as 'very reasonable' and note that the tax savings cover the cost. Indicative pricing is discussed on the discovery call.
My books are behind and my previous accountant left things in a mess — can you still take me on?
That is a reasonably common starting point. We handle the professional clearance with your previous accountant and assess what catch-up work is required to bring the records current. Any catch-up cost is scoped and agreed upfront — it does not appear as a surprise later. Once the books are current, the ongoing monthly fee applies.
Is there a long-term contract or a minimum commitment period?
No long-term contract. Engagements are rolling monthly. If it is not working after the first few months, you leave with clean, up-to-date books and no penalty. That said, a significant proportion of OD's client base has been with the firm for several years — some for more than a decade — which is probably the more relevant data point.
Does it matter where in the UK my company is registered or where I'm based?
No. The firm operates cloud-first by design, which means geography is not a constraint. OD Accountants has offices in London (Bethnal Green) and Wells, Somerset, but the majority of client work is delivered remotely. The firm has clients based overseas, including founders with 'digital nomad' arrangements, and handles the tax and structural complexities those setups involve.
How far in advance will I know what my Corporation Tax bill is?
With a cloud-based workflow and current bookkeeping, your Corporation Tax liability can be projected with reasonable accuracy several months before the payment deadline — not estimated roughly when the accounts are eventually filed. That means you can plan cash flow around the liability rather than adjusting to it after the fact.
Stop chasing your accountant for answers that should already be there.
OD Accountants handles the full limited company compliance obligation online, at a fixed monthly fee, with a chartered management accountant available when you need one — and proactive when you do not think to ask.
