OD Accountants works with ecommerce businesses every day. Fixed monthly fees, Niall O'Driscoll FCMA CGMA leading the engagement, and questions answered the day you ask them.
- Platform payouts reconciled monthly — no year-end scramble
- VAT position monitored across all sales channels
- Margin and profitability visible, not guessed at
- Tax bill known well before HMRC sends the reminder
No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean books and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?
Ecommerce admin adding up faster than your margins?
Platform settlements, marketplace fees, inventory adjustments and cross-border VAT do not fit neatly into a standard bookkeeping template. Most accountants ask you to explain how your platforms work before they can help. By the time your year-end arrives, reconciling it all becomes the job nobody wanted.
- Hours lost reconciling Shopify or Amazon payouts against bank statements
- VAT obligations on international sales not properly tracked or filed
- No clear view of profit by channel — just a year-end figure that surprises you
What sorted looks like
Your books are current every month, your VAT position is visible before the return is due, and your margin by channel is a number you actually know. That is what the engagement delivers.
- Platform payouts reconciled monthly — books current, year-end straightforward
- VAT across all channels monitored and filed — no unexpected registration obligations
- Management accounts with channel-level profitability produced each period
- Fixed monthly fee — no surprise bills at year-end
What online sellers say about us
From marketplace start-ups to established internet retailers — ecommerce clients get the same chartered-level support, without having to explain how their platforms work first.
As a new start up and having never dealt with an accountant, Niall at OD Accountants has been very welcoming and supportive. All our prior queries and issues have been resolved, and he is always available to meet the needs of our team.
The service from OD has been excellent, as has their advice. It's great to have access to a financial team who can guide us with such confidence and seamlessly integrate with our internal team. We always feel well-informed and confident about our financial processes and data. Highly recommend.
Everything an ecommerce business needs covered
Bookkeeping, VAT, Corporation Tax and management reporting — all delivered through cloud accounting software built for the way online retail actually runs.
Ecommerce Bookkeeping and Reconciliation
Your platform settlements, marketplace fees and payment processor payouts are reconciled monthly against your bank — not left until year-end. Xero and cloud-first workflows mean the data is current, not two months behind. FBA charges, referral fees, settlement timing — you will not need to explain how any of it works before getting a useful answer.
Included as standardVAT Compliance Across All Channels
Your VAT position is monitored across every sales channel, including international sales and cross-border obligations. Returns are prepared and filed on time under Making Tax Digital, with the threshold watched so a registration obligation does not arrive without warning. If your trading pattern changes, the VAT picture changes with it.
MTD compliantManagement Reporting and KPI Dashboards
Monthly management accounts with channel-level margin analysis give you a clear view of where the business is actually profitable — not just a single bottom-line figure. Forecasting and scenario modelling are available for growth decisions, funding conversations or simply knowing what the next quarter looks like. For clients who want it, a virtual finance director service provides ongoing strategic input without a full-time hire.

Ecommerce businesses, consultants, hospitality operators, start-ups — clients across a range of sectors, many staying for years. A few of their words below.
Savings More Than Cover The Fees
“My other-half introduced me to Niall at OD Accountants and I have to say my finances are so much the better for it. Unlike my previous Accountants, Niall is far more hands-on, available for advice and able to care for me as an individual, rather than a faceless client. His fees are very reasonable and the money he has saved me more than covers them. If you need an Accountant who cares, Niall and OD Chartered Management Accountants are the way to go.”
Years Of Service, Competitive Prices
“I've been there for years and Niall and his team go above and beyond the duties to provide accounting services but also general advices. They are always available if you need anything while charging very competitive prices. I could not recommend them enough.”
Supportive, Clear And Always Available
“Niall and his team are supportive, clear and directional accountants who have supported our small business staff up. They're always on the end of the phone to advise and assist and provide a top service for our accounting needs. Plus they're just nice people which helps too!!”
What makes this firm different for ecommerce clients
Cloud-first workflows, chartered management accounting depth and a team that already knows how online retail works — before your first call.
No explaining how your platform works
FBA fees, referral charges, Shopify settlement timing, payment processor reconciliations — the team handles ecommerce clients regularly and knows what the data looks like before you describe it. That removes the back-and-forth that makes switching accountants feel like more trouble than it is worth. You describe what the business does; the accounting follows.
Cloud-first, built for online retail
OD Accountants runs on Xero and best-of-breed SaaS integrations — not spreadsheets emailed back and forth. For ecommerce businesses, that means your sales data, inventory and bank feeds connect into one current picture rather than a month-old summary. KPI dashboards and real-time management information are a standard part of the engagement, not an add-on.
Chartered depth without the corporate distance
Founder Niall O'Driscoll FCMA, CGMA spent over a decade on freelance restructure and turnaround work — including listed UK and overseas companies — before founding OD Accountants to bring that level of finance support to smaller businesses. For ecommerce clients, that means margin analysis, forecasting and strategic input are available when the business needs them, not just compliance filed on time.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
Most clients are fully onboarded within two weeks. The process is designed to require as little from you as possible at the start.
Book a discovery call
A 20-minute call with Niall to understand your ecommerce setup — which platforms you sell on, where the current pain points are and what the business needs from an accountant. No preparation required. You will leave the call knowing exactly what happens next.
Receive a fixed-fee proposal
A clear proposal covering everything included, at a fixed monthly fee — no hourly rates, no surprise additions at year-end. If your books need catching up, the catch-up cost is stated separately and agreed upfront before any work starts.
We handle the migration
If you are switching from another accountant or a different software platform, OD Accountants manages the data migration. Your previous records are brought across, checked and structured correctly. You do not need to do the reconciliation work yourself.
Focus on the business
Your books are current every month, your VAT is filed, your tax position is visible well before the deadline and your management accounts give you a clear view of margin by channel. The parts of running an ecommerce business that used to take your evenings are, largely, handled.
“Been with OD Accountants for over a year now. Niall and the team are brilliant. They helped me set up a company and get everything I needed in place to run my business. I'm a tricky client due to my 'digital nomad' status, but their advice…”
Things ecommerce clients usually ask first
Do you actually understand how Amazon, Shopify and other platforms pay out?
Yes, and you will not need to walk us through it before getting a useful answer. Amazon FBA fees, referral charges, settlement report timing, Shopify payouts and payment processor deductions are all part of the day-to-day bookkeeping for ecommerce clients on the books. The reconciliation structure is set up to reflect how each platform actually works, not forced into a template built for a traditional retailer.
What does it cost and what is included?
Fees are fixed monthly and agreed upfront in the proposal — no hourly rates and no unexpected additions at year-end. What is included depends on the scope of the engagement: bookkeeping, VAT returns, annual accounts and Corporation Tax are the standard core; management reporting, forecasting and virtual FD input are available in addition. Pricing is not published on the website, but the discovery call or the free-quote form will get you a specific figure based on your actual setup.
My books are behind. Is that a problem when switching?
It is common, and it is manageable. If there is a catch-up requirement — months of unreconciled transactions or a platform history that needs importing — that work is scoped and priced separately from the ongoing monthly fee, so you know what it costs before any work starts. Most clients arrive with books in some state of disarray and leave the onboarding stage with considerably less to worry about.
Is there a minimum contract or a tie-in period?
No long-term contract and no tie-in. If the engagement is not working after three months, you can leave with clean books and nothing owed beyond the work done. The aim is to make it easy to stay, not difficult to leave — which is why most clients are still on the books years later.
How is VAT handled for international sales and EU marketplaces?
Cross-border VAT obligations — including the UK-EU distance selling rules, OSS registration considerations and VAT on digital services — are part of the scope for ecommerce clients selling across borders. Your VAT position is reviewed across all active channels, not just UK domestic sales. If your trading pattern changes and a new obligation arises, that is flagged before it becomes a problem.
When will I know what my Corporation Tax bill is going to be?
Because the books are kept current throughout the year, a tax estimate is available well before the accounting period closes — not handed to you as a surprise when the accounts are finalised. For limited company ecommerce businesses, knowing the Corporation Tax liability in advance makes cash-flow planning and dividend decisions considerably more straightforward.
Less time on the books, more on the business.
