Accountant for Influencer
Your creator income, properly accounted for.
Brand deals, affiliate commissions, platform payouts and merchandise revenue do not fit neatly into a standard tax return. OD Accountants works with content creators whose income arrives from several directions at once — keeping the books current, the tax visible, and HMRC correspondence to a minimum. Fixed fees, FCMA-qualified, same-day replies.
- Know your self-assessment bill months before January
- Every allowable expense captured — equipment, software, travel, home studio
- VAT threshold monitored so registration is never a surprise
- Sole trader or limited company — the right structure for your income level
No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean books and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?
Income from five platforms, one tax return.
Content creator income rarely arrives in a tidy format. Brand deal payments, affiliate commissions, YouTube and TikTok payouts, Patreon subscriptions, merchandise sales — each platform pays differently and none of it reconciles automatically. Most influencers get to October realising they have no clear picture of what they owe HMRC in January. That is a solvable problem, but only if the books have been kept properly throughout the year.
- Multiple income streams with no single clear record of what has come in
- Uncertainty over which expenses — equipment, lighting, travel, editing tools — are actually allowable
- No visibility on the tax bill until it is almost due
What sorted looks like
A chartered accountant who already understands how creator income works means you do not spend a discovery call explaining what an affiliate payout is. The books stay current, the tax position is visible all year, and the right business structure is in place before income growth makes the wrong one expensive.
- All income sources reconciled monthly — one clean picture, no year-end scramble
- Allowable expenses claimed in full — camera gear, software, studio, travel all reviewed
- Tax liability calculated and communicated well ahead of the January deadline
- Fixed monthly fee — no unexpected invoices as your income grows
What non-standard clients say about us
Content creators are rarely straightforward accounting clients. These are two reviews from clients whose situations did not fit a standard mould — and what happened next.
Been with OD Accountants for over a year now. Niall and the team are brilliant. They helped me set up a company and get everything I needed in place to run my business. I'm a tricky client due to my 'digital nomad' status, but their advice…
I've been there for years and Niall and his team go above and beyond the duties to provide accounting services but also general advices. They are always available if you need anything while charging very competitive prices. I could not recommend them enough.
What the fixed fee covers
Three areas that matter most for content creators whose income is growing and whose tax position needs to be visible throughout the year, not just in January.
Self-Assessment and Tax Planning
Your self-assessment return covers all income streams — brand deals, platform payments, affiliate commissions, merchandise and any employment income alongside. The tax liability is calculated and communicated well ahead of the deadline so the amount is never a surprise. Allowable expenses are reviewed in full before filing.
Included as standardBookkeeping and Income Reconciliation
Platform payouts, brand deal invoices and affiliate payments are reconciled monthly through cloud accounting software. By the time year-end arrives, the books are already current — there is no catch-up work and no scramble to piece together twelve months of records. VAT threshold monitoring is included so registration is never missed.
Cloud-based, ongoingBusiness Structure and Limited Company Advice
At a certain income level, operating through a limited company becomes materially more efficient. The right point to incorporate depends on your income, expenses and how you draw money out — and getting it wrong in either direction costs real money. OD Accountants will advise on structure and handle the Companies House filings directly as an Authorised Corporate Service Provider.
ACSP-registered firmClients across over a decade of work
Verified Google reviews from clients who came in with different problems and stayed for years. The common thread is responsiveness, accuracy and fees that justify themselves.
Well-Informed and Confident About Financial Data
“The service from OD has been excellent, as has their advice. It's great to have access to a financial team who can guide us with such confidence and seamlessly integrate with our internal team. We always feel well-informed and confident about our financial processes and data. Highly recommend.”
Hands-On, Not A Faceless Client
“Unlike my previous Accountants, Niall is far more hands-on, available for advice and able to care for me as an individual, rather than a faceless client. His fees are very reasonable and the money he has saved me more than covers them.”
Supportive, Clear And Always Available
“Niall and his team are supportive, clear and directional accountants who have supported our small business staff up. They're always on the end of the phone to advise and assist and provide a top service for our accounting needs. Plus they're just nice people which helps too!!”
Why influencers use OD Accountants
Three things that distinguish a chartered management accounting firm built for non-standard clients from a generalist practice that will ask you to explain what a brand deal is.
No explaining how creator income works
Platform payouts, usage-fee invoices, affiliate commissions and gifted-product declarations are not unusual questions here. OD Accountants already works with clients whose income arrives from multiple digital sources. The first call is about your numbers, not a basic explanation of how YouTube pays out.
Books current all year, not just in January
Cloud accounting software means the records are reconciled monthly, not assembled under pressure ahead of a filing deadline. You can see your tax position at any point in the year rather than discovering it when HMRC sends the reminder. That is a different relationship with your finances entirely.
Chartered depth without the corporate distance
Founder Niall O'Driscoll FCMA, CGMA spent over ten years in freelance restructure and turnaround work before founding OD Accountants — including contracts with listed companies. That level of finance experience is applied to SME and sole-trader clients who would not normally have access to it. Responses come the same day. Fees are fixed.
Up and running in four steps
Most new clients are onboarded within a week. The process is designed to require minimal effort on your side — you send the access, we do the rest.
Book a discovery call
A short call to understand your current situation — how you earn, what platforms you use, whether you are a sole trader or limited company, and what the books currently look like. No preparation needed. Bring the questions you have been putting off.
Receive a fixed-fee proposal
A clear proposal covering exactly what is included and what it costs monthly. No variable fees that grow with your income, no surprises when the work picks up. If it does not look right, you are under no obligation.
Hand over access
You provide access to your bank feeds, platform accounts and any existing records. OD Accountants handles the onboarding into cloud accounting software and brings everything current. Catch-up work, if needed, is scoped and priced transparently at the outset.
Your finances, running properly
From here, the books are maintained monthly, tax positions are reported ahead of deadlines, and questions get answered the day you ask them. The January self-assessment panic becomes a non-event. You know where you stand.
“As a new start up and having never dealt with an accountant, Niall at OD Accountants has been very welcoming and supportive. All our prior queries and issues have been resolved, and he is always available to meet the needs of our team.”
A few things influencers usually ask first
Do you understand how content creators get paid — brand deals, platform revenue, affiliate links, gifted products?
Yes, and you will not need to explain the basics before getting a useful answer. Brand deal invoicing, platform payout schedules, affiliate commission structures and the tax treatment of gifted items are questions OD Accountants handles regularly. The relevant HMRC rules around non-cash income and usage-fee payments are part of the day-to-day work, not a research project.
What does it cost and what is included?
Fees are fixed monthly and scoped to your specific situation — income sources, volume of transactions, whether you are a sole trader or limited company, and what ongoing support you need. Clients consistently describe the pricing as competitive, with tax savings that more than cover the engagement cost. A proposal with a clear monthly figure is issued after the initial discovery call, so there are no estimates that later shift.
My books are a mess and I have not filed properly for a year or two. Can you still help?
This is a fairly normal starting point. Catch-up work — reconstructing prior-year records, reconciling platform payouts against bank statements, and filing outstanding returns — is something OD Accountants handles as part of onboarding. The catch-up scope and cost are agreed transparently before any work begins. Arriving with books in some state of disarray is not unusual; leaving with them sorted is the point.
Is there a long-term contract? What happens if I want to leave?
There is no long-term contract. If the engagement is not working after three months, you leave with clean, up-to-date books and nothing further owed. All your data and records remain yours. The aim is to earn continued engagement through the quality of the work, not through contractual lock-in.
Should I be operating as a sole trader or through a limited company?
It depends on your income level, how you want to extract money from the business, and what your expense profile looks like. A limited company becomes more tax-efficient above a certain profit threshold, but it also introduces additional compliance obligations — annual accounts, corporation tax, Companies House filings. OD Accountants will review your current situation and give a direct recommendation, including the numbers behind it. If incorporation makes sense, the Companies House filing is handled directly under the firm's ACSP registration.
How far in advance will I know what my tax bill is?
With books maintained monthly and income categorised as it arrives, the tax liability is calculable at any point in the year — not just in the weeks before the January deadline. OD Accountants will communicate the projected figure ahead of time so you can set money aside without guessing. The self-assessment return is filed well before the deadline, and the payment-on-account position is reviewed each year to avoid overpaying unnecessarily.
Less guessing what you owe HMRC. More focus on creating.
OD Accountants handles the books, the self-assessment, the VAT monitoring and the business structure questions — fixed fee, cloud-based, with a chartered accountant who already understands how creator income works.
