Payslips, Records and Year-End

Payslips are issued digitally each period, with a complete record maintained through the year. At year-end, P60s are produced for all employees and submitted correctly to HMRC. If a P11D is needed for benefits in kind, that is handled within the same engagement.

Book a discovery call

A short call to understand your current payroll setup — how many employees, pay frequency, whether auto-enrolment is already in place, and whether there is anything unusual to handle. No preparation needed on your side. The call takes around twenty minutes.

Receive a fixed-fee proposal

A written proposal with a fixed monthly fee based on your actual headcount. No hourly rates, no add-on charges for routine queries. If the fee changes — because your headcount grows — you will be told in advance.

Handover and setup

OD Accountants handles the transfer of payroll records and software setup. If the previous provider has not been cooperative — which happens occasionally — there are standard routes for retrieving what is needed directly from HMRC. You will not be chasing your former bureau on your own.

Things people usually ask first

Do you handle payroll for directors as well as employees?+

Yes. Director payroll is handled alongside employee payroll — including the common setup where a director takes a small salary below the NI threshold and the remainder as dividends. The interaction between director salary, dividends and Corporation Tax is something OD Accountants considers as part of the wider engagement, not just as an isolated payroll calculation.

What does the payroll service cost and what is included?+

Fees are fixed monthly and based on your headcount. The standard engagement covers payroll processing, RTI submissions, digital payslips, auto-enrolment management and year-end P60 production. There are no additional charges for routine mid-month queries. Indicative pricing is provided on request following a short discovery call — the fee will not change without prior notice.

My payroll records are behind or in a mess — can you still take it on?+

Yes. Catch-up payroll is a routine part of onboarding clients who have fallen behind or whose previous provider left records in poor shape. HMRC holds employer payroll history and there are standard routes for recovering what is missing. The catch-up cost depends on how many periods need reconstructing, and that will be set out clearly in the proposal before any work starts.

Is there a minimum contract or lock-in period?+

No long-term contract. If the arrangement is not working, you can leave — and you will leave with your payroll records clean, your RTI filings up to date and everything needed to transfer to a new provider. There is no situation where leaving becomes complicated.

Can you handle Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) deductions within the payroll run?+

Yes. For contractors operating under CIS, subcontractor deductions are handled and the monthly CIS return is submitted to HMRC alongside the payroll run. Verification of new subcontractors and the monthly return are both within scope. If CIS is a significant part of your operation, the engagement can also include management of subcontractor statements.

How visible will I be to what has been processed and filed each month?+

Each pay run produces a clear summary of gross pay, deductions, net pay and employer NI before you approve it. RTI submission confirmation is retained on file. Everything is processed through cloud payroll software, so the records are accessible and not dependent on a single person's laptop or inbox. If HMRC queries anything, there is a full audit trail ready.
