Does a dormant company actually need to file accounts with Companies House?
Yes. A company registered at Companies House is required to file annual accounts and a confirmation statement regardless of whether it has traded. The accounts for a dormant company are abbreviated and simpler than those for an active company, but the filing obligation and the deadline remain. Missing the deadline results in the same automatic penalty structure that applies to active companies.
